Odd Cameras

Coronet Twelve-20

Another TLR, this time from Coronet, a British firm.

Capable of taking both120 and 620 films this camera makes the Kodak look sophisticated. The view finder is small but clear and has a cover/sunshade and the shutter is a typical spring loaded self cocking device.

The only thing that seems odd about this camera is a filter. By pulling a lever on the side a green(?) filter is placed over the lens. Presumably this was to combat the fact that film speeds were getting faster while the shutters weren't!. In practice it's supposed to be used for landscapes only, we'll see.

Although the body is reported to be made from cardboard my copy seems to have a metal one to go with the metal side plates, one of which removes to load film. The strap, made from plastic is stiff and is not removable, as such it does get in the way.

More details when used.
